Hats tourna, AWESOME.

Photobucket
Today's Hats tourna, was totally SHIOOK. I've been taught so much n learnt so much. Though i din get much disc, or should i say only 3 throughout e whole day? Haha, but its totally worth each n every cents of e $10 registration fee. The players there are just too good, and really generous with their teachings. It took me aback when one of a defender whose making me actually guided me throu e game, that sweet lady actually coached me where to run, when to do in-cuts and stuff during the game; and even personally walks to me to tell me bout my mistakes during half time. And really a heartfelt thanks to my teamates too, who took care and taught me alot. Things learnt today:
1) Always take what the defender gives you. Shes behind u preventing deeps, dash forward. Shes in front of you, go for deep and jambreak forward for in-cuts.
2) During horizontal stacks, always form e 3-4 formation. When a mid gets e disc, one handler should run forward to take his running lane, e other 2 handlers keep up e line for handling.
3) While defending, always take note on the hip. Normal ppl dont fake their hips, so it determines e real direction e man's going, never take cue from the shoulders.
4) Read your man, understand the one u're defending well. If shes good in deeps, always stand behind her, let her gain as lil ground as poss.
5) On defence, never use 100% speed to mark, most probably u'll be left behind by a jam; use roughly 60%, and dash 100% when e disc's on air. (that is if ur timing's zun)
6) On cup-defence, handlers should be fast to swing among themselves, poppers should always be ready to get e disc from poached handlers; and deeps should be ready for disc once poppers get hold on it. Lotza timings to train.
7) While doing in-cuts, always do a full cut, never a half one to confuse e handler and mid on next lane.
8) On horizontal stacks, mid-mids always take e initiatives to cut.
9) On offence, when forced forehand, 3 lanes on left of handler should always be ready to cut. Vice versa.
10) ONLY CHOOSE MAN TO MARK WHEN U'RE ON DEFENCE! Haha!!
It was an honour to be playing with and against the best teams in Sg like Freakshow, DK n Shiok. And i really have to mention e 4 SPU dudes in my team who totally impressed them - Alvin, Benedict, Derek n Fear. Im not gonna keep my praises, they really played very very well! And im very proud of them.
I always admire ZD's skills n speed, and totally good plays. Hope we can all bond together, because i seriously think if we're able to, in one year SPU'll definately be able to beat NYP n SMU ultimate. We're all passionate frisbee kids of SP, its time we get together, have real fun n kick some arses! =D

Last line, GOOD DAY MAN!

HATS.

Hats tourna tmr! Really really excited for it. Hell knows i may gonna be e worst player in e team. But gotta say its really good exposure cum experience having to play in hands w players outside. Saw from my list, theres few DK players in my team. DiscKnights, as i know is one of e best team in Sg. Cool, hope to learn something from them.
Gonna put in my best in e games and to all i can, make it a good experience! Jambreaks, cuttings, stallcounts, up calls, force defences, faking, calming of self and be smart. Theres sure lots to do in frisbee. Haha.

Zhang Yu - Si Bai Long Ying

Been long since i last got moved to tears by a song.
Its quite an olden chinese adaptation. About a girl who was sold at six by her mother for 4 silvers, in exchange for her elder brother a wife. Specially like the chorus -

Clouds covered half a moon that night,
the unseen half must be at my destination.
Perhaps thats the only way to think;
to believe its only the moon that have distanced.

Twenty years after, she was too forced to give up her fifth daughter. There she realized,
It is never the moon that was affected; its a life.
